You don't have to learn to use 100% HTML language to create your web pages... that would be a waste of time these days...
With technological advances, these codes are automatically generated by visual programs such as Front-page or Dreamweaver. In these programs, you create your pages just as you would in a word processor and the pages are converted to HTML automatically.
What you should learn is how to modify, add or remove certain parts of that code with the sole purpose of subscribing your website to search engines and Internet directories and get to be within the first 10 or 20 places in search results.
Once you have created a wonderful site, the next step is to make it known to the whole world, get it online and let people see it, enjoy it and buy your product.
But... how do you get this?
The first and most important step is to register the different pages of your website in search engines and directories MANUALLY.
But before doing so, you must make sure that the META tags in the HTML code of those pages are optimized for search engines.
Viewing the code on a page is really simple:
Open any web page with chrome browser, (can be https://www.pixoq.com).
Then right-click on your mouse and choose the command "view page source" This will open your word processor containing the HTML code for that page.
Now, look carefully at the first 10 or 15 lines of that code.
I will summarize the most important tags and how you should edit them:
Something you should know:
META tags are ALWAYS between <head> and </head> (as you will see on my site's page)
When you submit your page to the search engines, generally, a system called "robot" or "spider" will visit your website and index all the pages... following the links that are there.
It contains the title of the page in question. It is very important that it does not have more than 60 or 70 characters including spaces.
It must contain as many keywords as possible because search engines present this title when they show your page in the results. Your title should explain in a few words what the page is about, while also capturing the reader's attention. Remember that, before selecting a site on the results page, the reader quickly glimpses the titles.
Do not use capital letters, commas, periods, hyphens or accents.
Example:
<title>write here your title</title>
It should include a description as complete as possible of the content of your page, which you should get with as few words as possible since many robots only consider the first 13-15 words of their content.
It is therefore very important that you think carefully about the text you are going to include, avoiding words that are not useful for description, such as articles (a, is, the), etc, at least within the first 15 words.
A different description is recommended for each page of your site. It should not contain more than 150 or 200 characters including spaces. And, as in the previous case, avoid capitalization, commas, periods, hyphens and accents.
It is essential for the robots to index you properly. It will define the keywords and phrases that define the content of the page, which you will offer to the engines to introduce them in their databases.
Thus, when a user makes a query to that search engine and enters one of the words you have in your keywords tag, your page should appear in the list of search results.
It is used to tell search engines how to index the pages that make up the website.
Perhaps you don't want a page to appear in the search engine (for example, because it is only accessible to customers).
Or maybe you want the "robot" to index the other links or hyperlinks that appear on that page as well...
There are many modalities but the most common are:
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="index, follow" >
(To index the page and follow the links) or
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="noindex, nofollow">
(so that it does not index the page or follow the links)
This tag tells the robots how often to revisit the website to check for changes and re-index it in their databases.
Especially useful when you have an average page refresh period.
Usually 15 or 30 days:
<meta name="revisit-after" content="30 days">
Many users search only for pages in their own language.
This tag makes you more likely to be listed.
For the English language "en" is used
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en">
There are other tags, but the ones I mentioned are the most important and you should take them into account before you submit your pages to the search engines.
In some search engines (e.g. Google) you only have to indicate your home page. In the case of others, you must register page by page individually.
To get a good positioning in searches, you must pay a lot of attention and think carefully about what you are going to include in these tags
● TITLE
● DESCRIPTION
● KEYWORDS
Do not repeat the keywords or phrases because the "robot" can penalize you for it and remove your site from the search engine forever.
So far I explained the META tags that all pages of a website must-have.
Now I will talk about the different tricks and tips that should be taken into account to get a good positioning in search engines and directories on the net.
Although we can use specialized software or websites to submit our pages to many search engines at once, it is always better to do it ourselves page by page and search engine by search engine, since the control we will have then over the submission process will be much greater.
The data required for registration varies from one search engine to another, and the only way to do it properly is by ourselves.
Creating a website on our computer can be fun and informal process, but publishing a website on the Web is something much more serious, as people expect your site to be serious and formal.
And even more serious if what you manage there is a business! The pages must be fresh and updated.
Knowing that the robots visit them again from time to time, if they notice that the contents have not changed at a certain time, then delete them from their databases.
Rule: A WEB PAGE WITHOUT PERIODIC UPDATES IS A DEAD PAGE.
It is important and interesting to know if our pages are visited, and what kind of visitors you have since with this knowledge you can see if the promotion process you are doing is effective or not.
If it is, you must strengthen it, continuing with the policy undertaken.
If it is not, you must carefully analyze where you are failing, find out why they do not visit us, and once you find the answer, apply the necessary changes in our promotion policy in order to reverse the situation.
This rule, although not at the top of the list, is certainly the basis for your site to be successful. If the content of your pages is not interesting for your visitors, with time, you will find a dead Website.
You must strive as much as possible to maintain a site pleasant to the visitor, with a polished design, with good navigation, and offers some interesting, enjoyable and updated content.
It's no use having 5000 visitors coming and going immediately without even clicking a link! Include KEYWORDS and KEYPHRASES in the contents. You must choose 2 or 3 keywords and 2 or 3 phrases and include them at least 2 times within the contents of each page.
These words and phrases must also be included within the META KEYWORDS tag in the HTML code. At least one of them should also be in the title of the page.
Check out the competition's strategies. For example... if you are working on "weight loss techniques" or "weight loss methods", you should do a search with that same phrase and see who is taking the first places in the results page.
Go to the first 3 sites, review the HTML code (as I showed in the previous article) and study what keywords they use, how they edit their titles and description and how many keywords and phrases they include in the contents.
You MUST NOT copy or transcribe the code or contents! But you can study their strategies and try to overcome them, creating your own.
You could also do a search with the name of that competitor's URL and see which websites have links to that website. Take note of each one and propose a link exchange with your page.
Undoubtedly, the best way to please the robots is with a correct edition of the META tags of each of our pages. You should avoid creating web pages with "frames" because it becomes very complicated to edit META tags and you lose consideration for robots. To create the pages, I always advise using TABLES because it is much simpler and they are really very neat and tidy.
Another thing that is convenient to do is to use in the page content, synonyms of the keywords used, since the whole content of the document will give a certain character to it.
Always remember that if you talk about a good position in a search engine (indexation), the three most important things are the title of the page, the description given in the Meta Description and the keywords included in the Meta Keywords.
Many search engines take into account the first paragraph of the page (and not the META description) so I also advise to include a paragraph at the beginning (after the title) with another type of description than the one used in the META description.
Another consideration that robots (especially Google and Yahoo) take into account is the number of external links your site has. External links are links that other sites have that "point" to your pages.
Finally, I recommend incorporating a SITEMAP.xml file, which is required by the Google robot to index absolutely all the pages of your site, see the dates of the updates, the importance of each page, etc. This is of real importance, even more so when it comes to the most important search engine on the web!
