If you are looking for a great place to stay in Utah, the Green River Valley is just the place. I am not talking about any 'green' tourism that has crept into the valley - the visitors, whether your family or your group are just as important as the wonderful, rustic, naturally beautiful scenery you will enjoy in the area. The Green River Valley is an ancient valley, dating back as far as 1000 B.C. It was here that the Native Americans first settled and began to build their houses and villages. The town of Hildale, located on the southern end of the valley, became famous for the famous Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You can drive to the temple and see the imposing concrete structure that stands there today, although I am sure you have been there before and just as well - it's just as beautiful even without the Church's name printed on it. If you do not have the time to drive all over the valley, you may want to look into booking a hotel room at one of the many excellent hotels in the area. You may be able to choose from the Blue House Inn, which is conveniently located near downtown Provo, or the Three Sisters Hotel, which is known for being one of the first (and still one of the only) all-women's lodges in the world. Both of these hotels offer rooms with an open-air fireplace that brings the fire-pit style into the bedroom, and there is more than enough room to put down a comfortable bed with a very comfortable sleeper sofa for you and your guests. Some rooms also offer a view of the scenic river and distant mountains as you begin your day. Another choice for accommodation in the river valley is the Fairfield Inn& Suites. Located at the main intersection of the valley, this beautiful hotel overlooks the little town of Hildale. The large hotel provides clean, comfortable rooms, some with a swimming pool, and many with beautiful views of the area. It is also a very short walk from the light rail and there is plenty of local shopping along Main Street for you and your family to enjoy. Another hotel within a few miles of the Green River is the Starlight Suites by Hilton. This hotel is more of a traditional guest house and so is nestled in a quiet mountain valley, but it offers just as much luxury as the rest of the hotels in the area. If you find it a little too quiet, you might even want to consider the accommodations in the nearby Durango Courtyard. Even if you do not stay in a hotel, there are a few other things that you should keep in mind when planning your trip to the Green River Valley. For instance, you might find that there are some great hiking trails and you may want to try your hand at some hiking while you are there. There are many trails, so you will be able to fit your activities into your schedule, and you will be delighted at how different and beautiful the natural surroundings can be.
