Los Angeles International Airport Smoking Area +1-888-839-05

For travelers with a long layover or a stressful journey ahead, a smoke break can feel like a much-needed moment of calm. At LAX, the Los Angeles International Airport Smoking Area provides designated outdoor spaces where smokers can take a break while staying compliant with California’s stringent non-smoking laws. While indoor smoking lounges are completely banned, the airport has made accommodations by setting up smoking zones outside each terminal building.

Each terminal—from Terminal 1 to Terminal 8, including the Tom Bradley International Terminal—features clearly marked areas near the curbside entrances. These zones are typically located just outside the arrivals and departures sections, allowing passengers to access them either before checking in or after landing. Benches and ashtrays are available in most of these locations, ensuring convenience without compromising cleanliness.

It's important to remember that all smoking areas are before the TSA security checkpoints. Once you’ve gone through security, you won’t have access to any smoking zone unless you exit the terminal and go through the screening process again. This can be time-consuming, so it’s best to plan accordingly.

The Smoking Area at Los Angeles International Airport is a well-considered feature for those who smoke, especially on long international flights. While not as luxurious as indoor lounges found in some foreign airports, these outdoor zones provide a practical solution. By respecting the rules and using only designated smoking spaces, travelers can enjoy their break without disrupting the experience of non-smokers around them.
