ASTM A333 Grade 6 refers to low-temperature carbon steel pipe that is specially made to keep the steel structure's quality and its ability to be shaped in very cold environments. This grade is included in the wider scope of the ASTM A333 standard for low-temperature service. It is distinguished from other grades as a result of its specific chemical composition and the impact test requirements at -45°C (-50°F). It has a maximum carbon content of 0.30% and a manganese range of 0.29% to 1.06% by which required toughness for cryogenic application is provided. It can be made by both seamless and welded processes, but the pressure resistance of the seamless ones is generally higher.
